About Activity

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at Shri S.H. Kelkar College, Devgad, integrates student development with community service under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

NSS Objectives

NSS promotes selfless service through its motto "Not Me But You," fostering democratic values, appreciation for diverse viewpoints, and consideration for all living beings among students. The unit organizes campaigns on social issues like nationalism, democracy, secularism, social harmony, scientific temper, and Swachchha Bharat Abhiyan.

Joining Procedure

Shri S.H. Kelkar College, Devgad NSS unit enrolment occurs on a voluntary basis for undergraduate students, aligning with UGC guidelines to foster social responsibility through campus-community linkages.

Students join by expressing interest to programme officers during orientation or college events, followed by registration for regular activities or special camps like Shramsanskar Shibir. Participation requires commitment to weekly activities and shramdaan, with no formal fees mentioned.

Key Activities

Volunteers participate in annual special residential camps (Shramsanskar Shibir) featuring shramdaan such as cleaning school premises, public places, beach cleaning, and bandhara building. Additional efforts include socio-economic surveys, lectures, presentations, and training aligned with sustainable village development through tourism.

Benefits and Rewards

NSS instills scientific temperament, rational thinking, and skills via camps, surveys, and campaigns like Andhshraddha Nirmulan, enhancing student development and employability. Volunteers earn certificates for 240 hours of service, priority in admissions or jobs, and awards for exemplary contributions.

Facilities

The unit provides residential arrangements for one-week special camps, training in socio-economic surveys, lectures, and demonstrations, plus resources for beach cleaning and village development programs.
